Saturday January 16 The Fibonacci Numbers 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, ... begins the endless series of numbers which describes how nature builds (each two numbers make the next). There are many examples of Fibonacci Numbers in natural growth from the numbers of petals on flowers to the familiar spiraling forms of pinecones, artichokes, asparagus, potatoes (yes, they have a spiraling geometric structure!) and most of the plant world. It has been used in musical composition and in the rhythms of poetry. Come learn the history and interesting properties of these numbers and how they form the armature on which nature builds her growing forms. |

This illustrated talk will show a wide variety of ways the Golden Section and Golden Rectangle have been masterfully and innovatively applied in the designs of worldwide art. |

Saturday February 13 Golden Section Art Workshop This hands-on workshop will first teach you to construct the great Golden Section various ways with a compass and straightedge and the wonderful Golden Rectangle. Then you'll explore the ways it can be subdivided in beautiful and harmonious structures and learn how to find it's internal "points of visual interest" or "hotspots," the calm points of balance where a viewer's eye naturally wanders towards. You can then develop your construction into a powerful work of art. |

Untouched through time, Tutankhamun's jewelry, furniture and other items found in his tomb are renowned for their exquisite designs and materials, but few realize the role of the geometry by which each piece was carefully designed. Come take a visual tour of his jewelry and other regal and ritual items and see the hidden geometric schemes underlying them. |

Saturday March 13 Egyptian Art Workshop In this workshop you'll do geometric constructions upon images of art and objects from Tut's tomb and other Egyptian eras to get a feel for how they were designed so aesthetically well. Then you'll use these same geometric schemes to design your own art and crafts pieces.
